Encaustic Painting and Encaustic Photos
Encaustic art is a unique and ancient technique that involves painting with wax. This wax is a blend of beeswax and damar resin (a natural tree sap that acts as a hardening agent. In creating encaustic art, molten wax is applied to a surface, usually a wood board or wood board with a photograph adhered to it. Each layer is carefully heated with a torch or heat gun to fuse it with the one beneath, creating a luminous, textured surface that is rich in depth and detail.
